The Fortress

The Fortress (2025)

168 x 118 cm, Acrylic, colour pencil and gold watercolour on heavyweight paper.

Composed on 4 sheets of watercolour paper, the image can be viewed from either left or right.

Inspired by war like Indian miniatures, where soldiers or monsters attack fortified palaces and citadels: On the left is a garden, hemmed in by foes on the right.

Although it seems like the monsters dominate this apocalyptic landscape, ultimately this is a hopeful work about resilience in the face of adversity.
