Saptan Stories – Week 3 WIP Process

Thought I’d show the step by step working process for last weeks illustration for #SaptanStories:

I usually start with small thumbnails or a rough sketch.

Hands usually need a reference and I used my own here.

Once I’m happy with the sketch, it gets inked up and then at last on to the colouring. (The fun part)

I used felt pens for this project as they are fast, I can use them on the go (my lunch break) and they also restricted the colour palette. (I’m very indecisive!)

The dark colours I laid over the light and blended the edges with a lighter colour or a blender as these felt pens are great for that.

And there we are! No photoshop just scan, crop and upload.

See the ongoing story here and submit your idea for the next part – If it’s selected by public vote we will all illustrate it

just a few more weeks to go!
